House to home: Get Inspired

Monday, 30 June 2014

Good Afternoon, I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!
In last week’s post, I wrote about how I planned to use this blog to inspire readers to create their own homes. Id like to start this mission today and to do that, I've come up with a series that will take you through the design process step by step.
This series will be called 'House to home' and will be updated every few months. So for today’s post, I thought we could start this journey and get inspired together.

Shall we begin?

I think it’s important for your home to suit your personality as well as your lifestyle, So it’s a good idea to ask yourself a few questions:
How do I want to use this space?  Perhaps you enjoy entertaining, or maybe you want to leave the stress out the door and enter a sanctuary. Don't forget to consider family members and their needs!
How do I want to feel/ How do I want others to feel in this space? The answer to this might become very apparent by how you answered the first question. The use of colours, lines and shapes can all impact your mood

Don't forget to incorporate what you like as well as what you need. Remember this is your home, you need to love it!

After you've answered the questions and incorporated your likes and interests in the mix too, Write a brief summary of what you want. I find it helpful as it helps me stay focused on what I'm actually are trying to achieve. Here's what I would say:

I want my home to suit my young, bubbly personality. I want lots of added pops of colour to show this. I also want a mix of different textures and styles used to reflect my eclectic style.

Now its time for the fun part...
I absolutely love searching for interiors online! I mean, who doesn't want to get inspired? It doesn't need to stop online though... You can gather inspiration from just about anywhere! Try looking in magazines, on television, in shops and at your friends and families houses!

Now its your turn, don't be afraid to let your imagination run wild! Have fun, and good luck!

Remember to leave your thoughts and ideas in the comments section below. Don't forget, this series is designed to be interactive!

Love Megan xo
